Hi Denis!
Those are excellent news! Have one updated package for Debian is one of the
best things that might happen lately. We missed our Debian maintainer (and
lately the Ubuntu package has outdated version) long time ago
We are providing deb and rpm packages using a script but they are not part of
the official list of packages for each distribuition.
Good luck!
Carlos

Asunto: [Synfig-devl] Debian packaging status
Hi,
A short update on the synfig packages for the Debian archive:
I have found out that in this January, Dmitry Smirnov (onlyjob) actually
already started to update the packages to the newest version! I have contacted
him and we're now working together on getting the new versions ready to be
proposed for the archives again. Fortunately, Dmitry is a knowledgeable Debian
packager and has already done almost all of the work required, so there is not
much left for me to do. ;)
I have tested to build and install the packages on a Debian testing VM, and
everything went smooth. Testing on unstable will follow. Everything seems to
work fine on Ubuntu, too (except for that crash-on-startup on Ubuntu 12.04, but
I have already submitted a patch for that to the bug tracker [1]).
After the last details have been sorted out, the next step would be to get the
package sponsored so that it can land in "unstable". I'll keep you updated!
Regards,
Denis
