FFmpeg doesn't feel like the robust swiss army knife of video it used to be. It changes it's API often and there is the fork into libav which seems widely used by Ubuntu and others. It looks like the future of FFmpeg is quite unclear. Should Synfig continue using it, adopting to every new random change in its API commands, change to libav or something completely different?
I've noticed a rising trend in gstreamer. It's an old library which is widely used and it seems to have gained momentum in development. It is cross platform and it seems to be stable feature and API wise. Would it be useful to switch to it? How much work would be needed? Is it worth it? Also, couldn't gstreamer be used for other features in Synfig, like audio playback with sync and scrubbing? -David ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Rapidly troubleshoot problems before they affect your business.
