Hey Joel,

 Nice analysis in your blog.

 We run into this from time-to-time at Joyent.  We keep hitting up
engineers at Sun about it.  To date there is no way to kill these
processes.  If you run something like "pstack" and get the errors that
you saw "unanticipated system error", your hosed.  All you can
practically do is reboot. 

  Obviously, if the process hasn't got resources locked up, just treat
it like a zombie and leave it alone, but often in our cases it has still
engaged resources and causes problems.  Just try to learn as much as you
can about why it might have happened (as you did) and try to do whats
possible to avoid it in the future.
