What version of grub boot loader have you got? I am only familiar with grub version up to 0.97. Solaris 10 Jan 2005 edition has 0.95 is what I use but I re-installed it on it's PBR rather than MBR and I invoke solaris boot from chain loader. I do not believe that grub reside in ext2/3 can directly boot solaris. Neither the one resides on ufs can boot on /boot/grub on solaris root slice can boot linus kernel directly from menu.lst on ufs. I would first install grub 0.97 on each of linux PBR then chain load linux from 0.95 if your openSolaris uses frub version 0.9X.
"find /boot/grub/stage1" issued from ufs may not find /boot/grub/stage1 file that reside on linux partition nor grub binary on solaris will be able to read single target menu.lst on linux partition nor load vmlinuz kernel. -- This message posted from opensolaris.org _______________________________________________ sysadmin-discuss mailing list [email protected] http://mail.opensolaris.org/mailman/listinfo/sysadmin-discuss
