Hi Art,
Live Upgrade copies the running Boot Environment and upgrades at least
filesystems and can be used to split and merge filesystems. So, it is
the recommended way to upgrade and patch solaris systems with zones.
But whole root zones are special.. and it depends.....
Surely, upgrading the ABE with Live Upgrade means upgrading the global
Zone and that means in "normal" cases to install the packages for all
non-global zones.
But, why would you use whole root zones ?? If the packages installed in
the whole root zones differs from the global zone. And in this case Live
Upgrade just partially helps you. Usually creating whole root zones
means to have specially installed zones and extra administration of
package updates and patch updates for this zones, else you would use
sparse root zones to save space and administration costs, wouldn't you.
And therefor, -at the moment - I do not see any real advantages to use
Live Upgrade for whole root zones, except upgrading and patching the
global zone....

Hi Guys.
Does anyone tried to use live upgrade with Whole Zones ?
Sparse zones are more simple, since it uses shared OS critical file
systems. Any documentation would be great.
Thanks in advance.
