I had done a reset-all prior to issuing the 'boot net - install'. After shutting down to runlevel 0 and dropping to the ok prompt, I 'setenv auto-boot? false' and issued a 'reset-all'. When I got back to the ok prompt, I tried the net boot and got the error I mentioned. I've got the firmware update running now, so far so good.
