Hi Everyone,

I've submitted syslog-syslog-11 to the draft editors. The IESG
requested a change to the title and I followed it up with some
changes to the abstract.

The new title is:
      "The BSD Syslog Protocol"

The new abstract is:
This document describes the observed behavior of the syslog
protocol. This protocol has been used for the transmission of
event notification messages across networks for many years. While
this protocol was originally developed on the University of
California Berkeley Software Distribution (BSD) TCP/IP system
implementations, its value to operations and management has lead
it to be ported to many other operating systems as well as being
embedded into many other networked devices.

Eric Allman was concerned that we would do our effort a great
disservice if the title were to imply that the protocol and the
process were relegated only to BSD systems. As I fully agree with
this, I strengthened the abstract to indicate that it is just about
everywhere. :-)

I'll be on vacation through the end of next week. I won't be able to
update the web pages when the new ID is placed into the repository.
If anything comes up, I'll deal with it when I get back.

Thanks,
Chris
