Hello, this list. I've just custom-installed System 6.0.8
after a few years of using OS 7.1 on my 4/40 Classic, and
have a few comments and questions.

First comment: One tryout of System 6 and you know that it,
not 7, is really the optimum OS for the Classic, even if the
contents of the system folder, compared to 7's, do look like
a dog's breakfast.

First question. I chose the standard (not the minimal)
Classic install, and am wondering if that is the reason that
the File menu command "Put away" isn't working -- it's
always grayed out when I have a selected floppy in the
floppy drive. Does "Put away" only work with the full
all-Macs install of System 6.0.8?

Or maybe my copy of the OS is corrupt. But it's the usual
download from Apple's website of older software, from which
I made floppies with Disk Copy 6.3.3 (on my PowerMac G3,
that is, and subsequently transferred to the Classic), and
there was no problem with the installation itself.

Hardly a problem, because I can still drag floppies to the
trash to put them away (and the Eject command works okay),
but I do sort of feel shortchanged on the full meal deal...

Has anyone seen anything like this before?

Regards,
