Article No. 10863 in the Apple Knowledge Base Archive (Entitled "System 6.0.8L ReadMe File (8/95)") concludes thus:
"To get complete documentation for system software version 6.0.8L, you can ask your Apple dealer for a copy of the Macintosh Reference (part number 030-4015-B). Your dealer can order that book for you..." Anyone here familiar with that publication? I have the original "Using Your Macintosh Classic: User's Guide" and now also "Macintosh System Software User's Guide Version 6.0", but would like to see this (so-called?) book on 6.0.8L. In fact, I would like to see ANY good book-length discussion of the later versions of System 6, especially those which would cover getting a 68000 Mac running OS 6 on the Internet and networking it with later Macs and printers, and installing and using TrueType fonts with System 6, and the most desirable inits and CDEVs, and so on. Yes, the information IS already available on the Internet, but why chase it down piecemeal if you can have it all between two convenient covers? Even if such a work doesn't exist, this list and Compact Macs together surely have the personnel to create it. Marten, pickle, Gamba -- are you listening? Who knows, Peachpit Press or a similar publisher might even find a market for it! Regards, G.
