Hello. I'm new to this list as of this post. Recently I received a sweet little Mac Plus as a gift from a friend. I decided to give it a make-over (new ram, bought a scsi zip drive, keyboard) and am now having a hell of a time creating a working 6.0.8 bootdisk!
So far I've tried both high-density and old double-sided floppies, downloaded several different 6.0.8 disk images, downloaded disk copy 4.2, and tried several times to make a working bootdisk. I've attempted this using OS 9.1, OS X, and Windows 2k (using a windows disk writing utility in a DOS term.). NO LUCK! I'm certain it comes down to the disk format (the Mac Plus refuses to recognize any disks other than those formatted directly on it - I'm assuming it's using HFS to format the disks. OS 9 balks when I try to write the OS 6 image to an HFS formatted disk. And I *thought* that OS X (I'm using 10.1.4) would be able to recognize the HFS formatted floppy, but no go. My ideal situation would be to have a bootable OS 6.0.8 zip disk with gobs of software on it OR, failing that, a bootable floppy used in conjunction with the scsi zip drive. Any help in this process will be greatly appreciated - both by myself and the 6-year old I'm setting the Mac Plus up for! best, Stephen Powered by Rockliffe MailSIte http://www.rockliffe.com -- System6 is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and... 123Inkjets.com <http://lowendmac.com/ad/123inkjets.html> Support Low End Mac <http://lowendmac.com/lists/support.html> System 6 Heaven <http://www.euronet.nl/users/mvdk/system_6_heaven.html> System6 info: <http://lowendmac.com/lists/system6.html> --> AOL users, remove "mailto:" Send list messages to: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To unsubscribe, email: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> For digest mode, email: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subscription questions: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Archive: <http://www.mail-archive.com/system6%40mail.maclaunch.com/> Using a Mac?
