There are tonnes and tonnes and tonnes of desk accessories (I'll
call them DAs from now on), and pretty much all of them would be
for System 6 or earlier. (With the Multifinder being integrated
into System 7, there was no longer a reason to develop DAs.)

As an example: Spectrum Holobyte's Tetris included a small version
of the game as a DA, so you could take a break from your work
without disrupting your work. Old versions of Endnote Plus
(bibliographic software) included a DA so that you could access it
from within your word processor. Suitcase (a font and DA manager)
was a DA too. Of course, some publishers had to out do others by
including several DAs in one box. That was the case with File
Director, which included (if I recall correctly) a file manager,
calculator, calendar, and phonebook DA.

If you go to an older Mac software archive, you'll typically find
a directory full of DAs. An example: ftp://ftp.funet.fi/pub/mac/da/

Have fun with DAs. And remember, they're not small applications.
They are device drivers! (Without a device to drive.)

Byron.
