You need something called an IRC client, like mIRC (Windows) or IRCle (Mac) or XChat (Unix/X) or Epic4 (Unix/text) or one of many others. Clients exist for computers old and new. You can, for example, find clients for System 6 and the Apple IIgs. I don't know about #Mac68k_SGI, but #68kmla is on EFNet. You can choose a server from <http://www.efnet.org/?module=servers>. It may take a few attempts to find one which will let you on, but just keep trying until you do. Feel free to join either channel. They are pretty much the same group of people.
