Well, the documentation provided by Apple (the Univeral Binaries PDF) claims that there is no support for Mac OS 8 and Mac OS 9. In my mind, that means no Classic support and no Classic support means no System 6. Thankfully there are at least two emulators which support System 6: vMac and Basilisk II. Unfortunately, the PowerPC side is a bit more gloomy. Mac-on-Linux requires kexts under Mac OS X (also not supported in Rosetta), Pear PC would probably be slower, as an independent emulator which would have to run Classic under Mac OS X. That leaves SheepShaver, which may or may not work under the PPC environment (I think there is also an x86 port as an emulator). When all is said and done, I think you'll have more luck running 68k software under Mac OS X x86 than PPC software. And that includes System 6.
