What is the exhaustive list of things to try
out? Which utility(ies) might repair a drive? Is
it possible the SCSI switches on the back of the
HD might be badly set up? Is it possible that
it's an incompatible System version issue?
I'll try a few things on my own, but I must
admit I'm not familiar with all these disk
repair utilities, but I know where to find a lot
of them!

The drive in question is an old drive (CMS sd45U)
that used to attach to my MacPlus.
