Hmm, We don't use that script here, but we do call "telinit u" in our glibc %post. Seems to work fine for me here on systemd 189. Which version are you using? If you are using 188 I think there may have been a bug with daemon-reexec (which is what telinit u does) due to dbus changes. I didn't look specifically but I presume that is fixed in 189. Could it be that that's your issue?
