But I want nice names showing up on my networked PCs at home when they show up in my media centre. A pretty host name is IMO a needed concept. Whether that fits in with your world view or not is obviously a different story... but then, hey, aren't hostnames themselves "technically absolutely not needed". An IP address should be sufficient.
