I'd think this falls into "my personal IDE cruft files", thus I'd recommend you to do this: [core] excludesfile = ~/.gitignore_global And then there specify those files. That way GTAGS and friends will be ignored for you, in _all_ git repositories everywhere and you don't need to modify ignore files in all upstream projects... -- Regards, Dimitri.
