The Department of Physics in the Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences at 
the University of Arkansas invites applications for a tenure-track 
Assistant Professor of Physics focusing on neuroscience and/or biophysics.  

Ideal candidates will have a strong record of impactful research in 
quantitative systems neuroscience, statistical physics of living systems, 
brain-gut-microbiome interactions, computational/theoretical neuro/bio, 
advanced machine learning/data analytics, microbial biophysics, or 
molecular biophysics. Potential for building productive collaborations with 
existing neuroscience/biophysics labs in the department and beyond is 
valued. Successful candidates will also be expected to have strong 
commitment to mentoring and teaching graduate and undergraduate students 
and the service efforts of the university.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Ph.D. in physics or a closely related field from an accredited 
institution of higher education conferred by the date of initial 
appointment. 

• A demonstrated record of exceptional research in neuroscience and/or 
biophysics.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Demonstrated expertise that builds on existing strengths of the 
department’s neuroscience and biophysics labs: quantitative systems 
neuroscience, statistical physics of living systems, brain-gut-microbiome 
interactions, computational/theoretical neuro/bio, advanced machine 
learning/data analytics, microbial and/or molecular biophysics.

• Record of successful publication and funding in these areas.

• Evidence of, or demonstrated potential for, exceptional teaching and 
mentoring at the graduate level and undergraduate level.

• Strong potential for collaborations with existing neuroscience and/or 
biophysics labs in the department and elsewhere.
