Dear All, As part of the DFG Cluster of Excellence "The Adaptive Mind" a PhD-student position is available in the Sensorimotor Control and Learning group of the TU Darmstadt (Department of Human Sciences, Institute for Psychology / Centre of Cognitive Science). The position concerns a three-year fixed-term contract and is to be filled from May 1st.
In The Adaptive Mind (http://www.theadaptivemind.de), the universities of Giessen, Marburg, and Darmstadt, in collaboration with the University of Frankfurt and the Frankfurt Institute of Advanced Studies (FIAS), pursue the goal of advancing research in the field of Mind, Brain, and Behaviour in an interdisciplinary manner. We combine state-of-the-art behavioral and neurophysiological research with approaches from psychiatry and clinical psychology, as well as quantitative analyses and computational modeling using artificial intelligence, machine learning and robotics. It is the aim of The Adaptive Mind to measure and model the continuous adaptation of natural human behavior in a constantly changing and unpredictable world. The tasks of the available position include scientific research contributions that relate specifically to the purposes of the TAM project, a part of which deals with the Sense of Agency and the neuronal correlates of adaptive perceptual and sensorimotor processes in patients with schizophrenia. Of particular interest are impairments in predictive processes for sensorimotor control. The focus of the position lies in the carrying out and modelling of behavioural experiments with both healthy individuals and, in collaboration with the Department of Psychiatry and Psychotherapy in Marburg, in patient groups. For this purpose we are seeking applications from highly motivated students with an interest in combining theoretical (computational modeling) and experimental research in cognitive science. More information about the position and how to apply, can be found here: https://www.career.tu-darmstadt.de/tu-darmstadt/job/53070 The application deadline is March 7th, 2026. Informal enquiries can be directed to Prof. Loes van Dam ([email protected]<mailto:[email protected]>).
