In the latest issue of the British newsletter ATHLETICS INTERNATIONAL there is an item about the fact that the IAAF has disqualified three Romanians from the World Indoor Championships on the grounds that they were all entered with invalid performances from a meet that supposedly took place in Bucharest on March 1, 2003. They were Vasilache in HJ, Tarus in the LJ and Guset in the SP.
Peter Matthews, AI co-editor, comments, "This gives us an interesting statistical problem, in that there was nothing wrong with their performances ... in Birmingham, but were ineligible to compete - thus one could regard their marks in the same way as we would marks by guests in a scoring competition."
