I tried to think of examples in other sports, similar to this Volzing rule.

The closest I could come was the goaltending rule in basketball.  But the significant 
different is that if you touch a ball in 'the cylinder', it's goaltending.  None of 
this trying to interpret whether it was inadvertent or the player was trying to 'help 
the ball go in the basket' (offensive goaltending), or 'keep the ball from going in 
the basket' (defensive goaltending).  If you touch the ball in the cylinder, you've 
violated the rule.  Simple.

If you want a volzing rule, make it all-encompassing, or else take out the rule 
entirely.

I lean toward the latter, especially with the new peg and crossbar specs.
