Dear Netters,

A herniated disk and a bouncing baby girl have me home-bound for a few weeks,
so I've been going cover to cover in my T&F News (1980-1986). It's amazing
how these high schoolers performed on flat surfaces indoors. I think the banked
boards slightly "exaggerate" the true ability of some runners. Wendy Vereen
(Trenton, NJ) ran 37.80 and Dennis Mitchell (Edgewood, NJ) 34.04 for 300m at
Princeton! Imagine these athletes on the Armory boards, along with William Reed...

PS - T&FN used to give alot more bang for the buck back in the mid-80's.-LM
