Hi,

I would like to contact any officials who will be working on the pole vault at the
World Champs in Paris. The pole vault qualifying comps are difficult to run. There
are certain things that only arise in the major meets, and these can cause problems if
you are not prepared for them.

I would like to share my experiences from the Sydney 2000 Olympics. The pole vault
comps there ran relatively smoothly because of good preparation. I have some
tips/suggestions about how to run a warm-up so that 40-50 vaulters can each get 3-5
practice jumps each, and how to avoid having the athletes refusing to jump when there
are 13-14 vaulters left in the qualifying. (This happens in the high jump as well.)

Nick
