By Camera staff April 11, 2004 EUGENE, Ore. â Colorado's Dathan Ritzenhein ran the fastest outdoor 3,000 meters by a collegian this year Saturday when he smashed the Pepsi Team Invitational record by winning in seven minutes, 50.39 seconds. The Buff men and women both finished fourth in the meet, with Oregon claiming both the men's and women's titles. Ritzenhein's time broke the meet record by 24 seconds. CU's other title went to Renee Metivier in the women's 1,500. Her time of 4:26.28 was just more than one second ahead of the runner up in the event, Lindsey Egerdahl of Washington. The Buffaloes picked up several second-place finishes on the evening as well. Bret Schoolmeester was second in the men's 1,500 in 3:45.27; Natalie Florence was second in the 3,000 in 9:38.27; Anna Magle was second in the women's high jump at 5-7; Liza Negriff jumped 39-71/4 in the women's triple jump; and Andy Passen was second in the men's shot put with a throw of 51-21/4. Next weekend the Buffaloes will travel to Walnut, Calif., for the Mt. San Antonio College Relays.
