For all those who are in support of the fairness of the current US selection
system, and expound that the medal count does not matter, answer me this.
Why not have the Olympic trials in late April or early May?
After all, the objective of the Trials is not to select the best possible
team to perform at the Olympics, but rather to be fair in selecting 3
persons. Everybody knows that the trials are in April and they all prepare
for an April peak.
An early date - late April, early May - would be a lot FAIRER to the college
athlete, who is disadvantaged by a late July trials. The professionals can
peak anytime they want as they are far more flexible in their preparation.
