For what it's worth, I think there are world records which could fall in
Sydney. Women's hammer and javelin come to mind - and three out of four
relay events. Then there's Michael Johnson.

Anyway - here's the list of Australian 'allcomers' records -
http://www.athletics.org.au/records/index.htm

Aussie allcomers records include marks like:

9.94/19.92 Frankie Fredericks
21.90/47.60 WR Marita Koch 400
41.30 WR GDR 4x100
3-19.49 GDR 4x4
4.60 Emma George
69.78 Martina Opitz

Records almost certain to fall include:

1.44.78 Peter Bourke 800
8.20.37 Shaun Creighton 3kSC
8424 Daley Thompson DEC
1-59.0 Charlene Rendina 800 (oldest allcomers record - set 1976)
54.28 Debbie Flintoff-King 400H

PS - It's the first day of spring downunder - warm and sunny.

Subject: t-and-f: Austrailian continental marks

As noted in previous posts on the weather, the likelihood of records being
set in Sydney will be nil .. I know that records are kept on many different
things including all comers records for various areas .. Are there a set of
records for Australian continental bests .. Might give some idea of what to
expect from performances in Sydney .. Or how to define outstanding ones ..
