Netters

Well Michelle has been gone for 10 days and thanks in large part to
her mom, the children are doing well. I wish I could say the same
for me. I had to race the day Michelle flew to San diego. To say the
least travel coordination was a challenge but some how we got
Michelle's Mom and brother in ABQ stayed with a very kind friend,
I left to race on a friday Michelle Left on a Saturday.
I arrived back to find my van with 2 new tires (nails) and in
need of a new alternator. I blame this last squarely on the
shoulders of list member Pat Palmer who spends his summers in
Soccorro NM. Pat had asked me where he might get an alternator
for his car. It was an obvious jinx. Of course my tools were home ( I
vowed again to never leave without them so most of the prize
money went into tires and repairs.
Well life goes on and I had to get home to repair the exhaust
system on the festiva now pushing 230,000 miles. The repairs went
well until I managed to drain the transmission instead of the oil
(don't even ask), Then I managed to drop the pipe on my hand
opening a wonderful wound which Ayla (the 3 year old) promptly
stepped on while I was stretching. To top that off, eventually, I am
going to have to go back under that car to replace the catholic
converter! Say did I happen to mention that Michelle never got to
apply for those GM cars which the athletes get to keep? No, I am
not bitter - well not much anyway:) (Just had to get that in.)
So, to continue. At work I managed to bash my face on a
swinging tricep push down bar (again I do indeed have a job) that
only resulted in a fat lip. That was not nearly as bad as what
happened today. You may have noticed that you are reading my
post a little slower then normal. Don't worry that makes sense since
I m typing slower then normal. That of course would be a direct
result of the broken finger I incurred while lifting weights after a
blistering speed session! I was moving a Total Gym and caught my
finger under about 150 lbs per inch - leading the doc to say "that is
an impressive fracture you have there." He seemed surprised I
didn't want pain killers but I had to drive myself home and still had
to finish my weights and still had to do my second workout of the
day. I am sure I'll have to pull out of the Olympic finals and
Michelle will too - oh wait I'm not racing - never mind:).
If I live until Monday (there is the possibility I won't) I leave to
join Michelle in Sydney. I arrive the day before her race and stay
till the end. Michelle is doing quite well and has been very happy
with the help she has been getting from the coach. In another post
I will relay some of her thoughts and her training to the list - some, I
hope most will find that more interesting. I will also have the much
anticipated and longed for predictions for the walks.

Good Training,
  Michael Rohl
