Speaking of 'this morning's paper', the L.A. Times says that
the Feb 12th new indoor meet at L.A.'s Staples Center is in trouble
with only 2,000 tickets sold.
The promoters say they didn't really expect many sales until after
the L.A.Invitational Indoor and the Super Bowl, but this week will
tell the story.
Apparently if ticket sales don't pan out, they'll pull the plug
rather than incur a big loss.
There are plenty of Sydney medalists lined up to compete,
but ticket price scales appear to be a bit steep- $75, $50, and
$25 for the nose bleed seats.
Also, if you want to see the high school events earlier in the
day, you have to buy a separate ticket (at lower scales).
They did, however, unveil the new track to reporters- apparently
it cost $800,000. Don't know anything about surface type,
how many laps-to-the-mile, or layout configuration.
