If it is the HS events that brings out the crowd, doesn't this argue in favor of including them? I'm not a big fan of the HS events at US Champs either, but I'd prefer to put up with them rather than see no crowd in place of of the usual sparse crowd. My guess is that USATF includes them precisely for this reason.
