Marry Decker Slaney I'm afraid, is a poster woman for all that was bad with track and field in the U.S. in the 80s and 90s and possibly later. I believe Slaney is still not eligible to compete according to the IAAF because she never paid back the Silver Medal prize money she won in the '95 World Indoor Championship after her positive drug test. She was almost certainly part of the systematic drug program run by Athletics West that Malmo told us about. A dark chapter for USATF was when she was elected to the Hall of Fame.
