It usually only takes a couple of days - three in my case when I unlocked a device last year. It is easiest to do via the email functions within mytmobile. Here's what they returned to me initially, so if you provide the information up front you can probably make it happen faster: Thank you for taking the time to contact T-Mobile. I understand you needed a SIM unlock code and would be happy to help you with your request. All phones sold by T-Mobile are locked for use by T-Mobile SIM cards only. To unlock your handset, you must meet the following criteria: -Must currently have an active account or an account that has been cancelled less than 90 days ago. -The account must have at least 90 days of active service. -The account must not be delinquent or in Write Off with an outstanding balance. -The name on the request must be listed on the account as the billed party name, authorized user, or contact name. NOTE: Only one unlock code will be issued per active line per 90 days Upon meeting these conditions, please provide us with the following and I can make a request for this code. -IMEI number (dial *#06# to show on phones display) -Billing name -T-Mobile account and mobile number -Contact number and/or email address -Carrier's logo that is on the handset (If no logo, then the previous carrier name i.e. Voicestream, Cingular, etc.) NOTE: For Nokia handsets, please note what carrier logo is labeled on the outside of the handset, usually located under the keypad.
