According to my conversations with a few people who have gone through
this process, phones acquired because of the voicemail upgrade do not
affect your contract status.  One friend of mine was quite insistent
on confirming this with T-mobile since he recently moved and T-Mobile
is marginal where he lives, and his contract is up this month or next.
