All email and browsing on the BB is data and is not billed like an SMS. So your roaming will be the standard roaming data rate which I think is currently $0.10/kb. So everytime your BB even checks mail it's sending/receiving data which would be charged at that rate.
Incoming SMS come out of your bucket or are $0.05 each like they are here in the US. Sending is $0.35/SMS. When roaming internationally, does each message count as a text message at $0.05 a pop (ouch) or are these counted as something else. I'd love to take the BB with me instead of my laptop and to depend on bb mail for my e-mail but am worried about the cost of doing so. Any information or tips would be appreciated.
