T-Mobile discontinued analog roaming at least two years ago (if not
longer.) A GAIT phone won't help you for two reasons. First of all
T-Mobile doesn't support either TDMA or AMPS analog. cingular won't
help you either since they will not activate any new combination
TDMA/AMPS handsets and even the MVNO operators won't activate any new
activations for TDMA/AMPS. If you absolutely must have coverage you
may have to get service either leaving T-Mobile or getting secondary
service with VeriZon or a reseller.

Try going to <http://www.cellguru.net/prepaid_compare.htm> for prepaid
comparisons and look for CDMA providers such as Page Plus. You can use
a so called "tri-mode" phone with them. As far as T-Mobile goes you
will not be able to at all use analog AMPS since it's been discontinued
for at least a couple of years.
