There really is no such thing as a SMS only plan. The closest thing you could get would be the sidekick plan, which includes unlimited SMS.

I am in the process of building an SMS-to-TV system which will utilize USB Modem. I contacted T-Mobile to find out if it's possible to get SMS only plan with them but the reply I received did not really answer my question. The reply I received is quoted below... My question is if I'll get Sidekick plan and will use the sim card in another device, will the text messaging portion work or will T-Mobile block text messaging as well because the device I'll use won't be identified as sidekick? Here's T-Mobile's response... "All of T-Mobiles voice barred plans are plans meant to be used with data devices such as the T-Mobile Dash or the Blackberry Pearl. Each of these plans includes unlimited data and e-mail access over the device with no voice minutes or the ability to make or receive calls. The lowest priced option is the Sidekick Unlimited Voice Barred plan for $29.99. This plan includes unlimited data and e-mail through a Sidekick and unlimited text messaging. This plan is restricted to be used by a Sidekick device." - - T-Mobile-US on Google Groups: http://groups.google.com/group/T-Mobile-US _ _ Yahoo!
