If you use a Turbosim or Stealthsim solution to unlock your iPhone, DJ  
is right... These are overlay modules that make the phone think that  
you are using the At&t network while you are actually on another  
carrier. You need to physically trim down the sim module for the  
contraption to fit in the sim slot.  Do a Google search for them and  
you'll see what I mean.

This is currently the only solution to unlock iPhones that come  
natively with the 1.1.2 version of the OS...
