If this sounds silly I'm sorry, but did you call customer care?  You  
don't say whether you're a regular postpaid or prepaid customer.  If  
you're postpaid all text messaging can be blocked except for official  
messages which don't cost you anything.

It's all well and good to use forums to try to fix problems, but some  
things it's really better to actually contact the company that's  
involved.
