Don't you think there is a possibility another buyer will be found? The
cable companies are trying to get into the mobile data markets. DT has a lot
of money invested in T-Mobile USA. DT can't afford to walk away from
billions in wireless spectrum licenses, infrastructure and more. Even if DT
shut down T-Mobile USA tomorrow, which wouldn't happen, they would still
have to pay off or recoup the WCDMA IV licensing, unemployment/severance for
thousands of workers, thousands of leases/contracts for tower locations,
equipment, telco services, employees, retail locations and much more. Even
if T-Mobile were operating at a loss, which it is not, it would have to lose
a lot more money to make it worth DT's while to outright close the company.
If anything DT would sell the company at a substantial discount, relatively
speaking. The hit on an outright loss of T-Mobile USA would tank DT's stock
valuation despite their other strong holdings.

For all we know Google might even decide to buy DT out if for nothing else
the wireless licenses, especially since they were shut out of the 700Mhz
auction. Google bought Motorola to build phones, it seems to me a mobile
carrier would complete the package end to end.
