Ahhh... Finally I see what I did wrong! This is something that
everyone should remember: Editors of documents do not accept private
emails with comments about their documents! Wow, if I had only know
that all these years!

It should be noted that during of of the time in question I worked
for Seagate and Seagate's position at that time was that ATA and
ATAPI should not be mixed on the same cable. Like any good company
person I tried to make that position known. My private opinion was
that ATAPI was a clever idea but that the document describing it (aka
SFF-8020) needed a lot of work. And 6 years later, T13 is still
working on it!
