** This is the quasi-official and semi-temporary T13 email list server. ** hi As per ATA/ATAPI-4 Sec 9.4 ,after a Device Reset command the" device Shall not set the DRDY bit" Why this. Due to this we can't send other commands to the device because DRDY=0. I know ATAPI device has littlie meaning on DRDY.But DRDY =1 is a prerequisite for most commands. I have also one suggestion. Now there is no method to read the currently operating PIO mode of ATA device. I think we can read this information form the ATA host controller. What about adding this information to IDENTIFY DATA or any other commands. Reading this information from host controller will depends on the implementation of the controller.
