Aye.  The point is, without looking at CD IO, you can't know when it is reset time.

If we have a large population of devices that choke if required to comply to the 
simple CD IO spec, then I don't know what we can do.  It sure seems wrong to risk 
integrity for the devices-in-spec to take care of the devices-out-of-spec.
