** This is the quasi-official and semi-temporary T13 email list server. ** Hmmm... Seems to me there is a basic problem here... Lack of a Market... Everything I have read and heard tells me that so far something less than 1M consumber electronics (CE) AV units with hard disk drives have been sold worldwide. Such a low number have been sold that one manufacturer left the business and another is given little chance of lasting another six months. Plus I heard that Far East manufacturers are selling these CE AV units using standard-off-the-shelf hard disk drives. Given that the disk industry is making something like 180M drives per year now I can understand if they really don't care much about this CE AV market that seems to be going no where. And if clever folks can make these CE AV products using standard-off-the-shelf hard disk drives why should a hard disk manufacturer add all that extra hardware/firmware/etc to a drive? Especially why do it when no really wants to pay extra for the feature? *** Hale Landis *** [EMAIL PROTECTED] *** *** Niwot, CO USA *** www.ata-atapi.com *** -- If you have any questions or wish to unsubscribe send a message to Hale Landis, [EMAIL PROTECTED] To post to this list server send your message to [EMAIL PROTECTED] For questions concerning Thistle Grove Industries or TGI's list services please send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
