Hi, gzip-1.0.7 evilly changed the default behavior so that the (sym-)linked gunzip would no longer work as the program name would no longer be checked. The NEWS / Changelog indicate this was requested by the GNU headquater :-(
Unforunatly we just noticed this now with some spurious initrd extension failures when gunzip would spit out compressed data instead uncompressed bits. So now we build gzip with -DGNU_STANDARD=0 to avoid this new, buggy behaviour, especially as we do not want this lovely wrapper script passing -d to gzip that gzip would ship by default, now. Sorry for the inconvienience and happy gzip rebuilding :-) Yours, -- René Rebe - ExactCODE GmbH - Europe, Germany, Berlin http://exactcode.de | http://t2-project.org | http://rene.rebe.name +49 (0)30 / 255 897 45
