I really really really wonder why this fails for you as there does not appear
to be a relevant change (few at all) on groff in the last past year and I never
heared about such an issue. Maybe we should work around the missing
DESTDIR support in another way in the first place and not pass escaped
variable names into it's configure at all (nice trick btw. anyway :-).
