Hi all, with wound fingers, but pleasure notheless we can announce that the first pass LaTeX -> XML/Docbook conversion of the T2 Handbook finished.
Feel free to take a look at: http://www.t2-project.org/documentation/ Most oustanding is the amazing HTML quality, compared with the output formerly obtained from LaTeX. You may like to compare: http://www.t2-project.org/handbook/html/index.html http://www.t2-project.org/handbook/old-html/t2-handbook.html Most notable the title and all tables, among other non-straight forward formating ... With the conversion we think we have established the grounds for way more pleasant formating and extension of the exiting, historically grow T2 documentation, with the sources at: http://svn.exactcode.de/t2-handbook/trunk/src/en/ You may still find a few unconverted LaTeX macros in the output, this will be addressed, now. On the TODO: * remove remaining stray \noindent * convert all references * convert quotes * example formating * commnd formation Which I hope to finished until tomorrow morning. And then: * re-read the whole text, and update / fix on-the-fly * re-organize in a more sorted form (currently the content is a bit unsorted in my opinion) * document all the latest greated T2 features, including some new in-depth section, including: * T2 target creation / development * T2 embedded development, including * alternative C libraries, such as uclibc & dietlibc * alternative init systems, such as minit and runit * Virtualization solutions: Xen, Qemu (KVM), OpenVZ, V-Server * cross compiling desected Any contribution is of course welcome. I'd like to explicitly thank the Subversion developers for their extremely well done Docbook setup that the T2 book reuses 1:1 - even using an svn:external to pull the source! Without this pre-setup the introduction into the XML world would definetly had involved a steeper learning curve.
