Hi,

I compiled a system for avr32, which went well. I added some packages, and rebuilt some packages which initially failed, so I guess the rootfs folder changed a lot since the first build. When I look in he rootfs folder, I don't see anything in /dev, and I guess that is the cause that my kernel fails with a kernel panic.

Is there a way to rebuild the /dev files?

There is some mkdev script floating around, maybe it even comes
with the kernel sources. However most people today use udev or just
create the 12 (randomly picked number) nodes they need on a tiny
embedded board.
