Thought I would provide some feedback for you guys. I have tried using several
embedded tools over the years, and never really had any success with them.
Either you had to go to many sources to get what you needed (and usually you
played heck trying to get matching sources), or the complete package never did
build successfully. I've tried uClinux, snapgear, Moblin, UME and some others.
Now for T2.
This is an awesome tool! I actually had a successful build on it! I am quite
impressed so far with it. Not counting the download and install of the T2 SDE,
I had my first config and build started in a matter of about an hour. Could
have been faster, but I wanted to see what running less than defaults would do.
I created the .iso and burned it to CD. The install of my new system was
great. I had a couple of scripts that didn't have the paths defined in them,
but other than that it all went smooth. The only thing I wish was better was
the actual build time. But none the less, I am extremely satisfied and happy
with this tool. I can finally build embedded systems without spending days
trying to figure out what programs are going to play nicely together. One
suggestion I would have would be to have a package selection screen (kind of
like the Show Packages) where I could check off what I wanted instead of having
to list them one line at a time.
My next goal is to build a compile farm (for lack of a better term) using
distcc, hoping that will speed up the build process. You guys have done an
excellent job on this program. I only hope I get the chance to contribute back.
