Hi All,

I am experiencing troubles in installing and booting
trunk r39505 (i686).

[grub does not install claiming wrong stage1_5
file at the end of installation from CD with stone]

/after workaround
for the above and rebooting/ I get the message "login incorrect"
immediately after putting 'root' as username.

/var/log/warn reads:

login[701]: PAM unable to dlopen(/lib/security/pam_unix.so):
/usr/lib/libtirpc.so.1: undefined symbol: _des_crypt_call
login[701]:
PAM adding faulty module: /lib/security/pam_unix.so
login[701]: PAM
unable to dlopen(/lib/security/pam_console.so):
/lib/security/pam_console.so: cannot open shared object file: No such
file or directory
login[701]: PAM adding faulty module:
/lib/security/pam_console.so

I did make several attempts to solve this
issue, but di not succeed. Is this something about glibc, pam, tirpc and
their gang?

According to internet pam is known not to work from glibc
2.14 onwards (nice!), but I have v2.13

Does anybody have some clue how
to solve this login issue?

Plans for replacement of pam or whatsoever
in future?

Thanks in advance!

helasz
