Continuing a cross-build for ARM, I found that the libx11 patch 'keysymdef_include.patch.cross' fails.
It is designed for libx11 1.3.4, whereas t2 is now using 1.4.4. It patches the 'configure' script, I looked at it but the code where the patch should apply is now very different and I could not readily see how or even if the patch should be applied. So, I removed the patch and libx11 compiled ok.
