T2 is based on this, in fact "everything" in T2 is a little newer, cleaned, sorted, etc. The ROCK code you reference is extremely old, and used during an at that time experimental cluster build, to use a cluster of many single-CPU nodes as SMP was an expensive exception at that time, ...
